Scareware
Scareware is malicious software that often poses as a legit application - such as an anti-virus package, which convinces the user that their machine is infected or has some other issue, and then asks for a fee in order to "fix" the issue. In many cases the scareware carries a malicious payload as well.
Spyware
A program which obtains users' information and transfers it to third parties, without users' knowledge. In a way, Spyware is also similar to adware. Spyware is known to be one of top fraudulent activity carried out over in the internet.
